對, 但注意 XF86Config 中要在 Section "Module" 中加入

Load "freetype"

(在 FreeBSD 中跑 /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config 後產生的 XF86Config 自動就有)

UNICODE Font name.

XFree86 Version 4 的 freetype backend 會依照 font-name 來做字形跟字的內碼的
mapping.

我猜你去 down XFree86-4 的 src 回來 tar 開看看有沒有...
